I am torn about Tony Moly products.  I have had some good experiences with them i.e. the Floria peeling gel and the I’m Real Aloe lotion, but I have had some bad Tony Moly experiences.  My first bad experience was with the Gyeol Booster and sadly, now I have to add the Bio EX Active Cell Real Serum to that bad experience list. I thought that the serum was a part of the I’m Real line, therefore it had good ingredients, but I was wrong.

I had a ton of The Tony Moly Bio EX Active Cell Real Serum sample packets.  They were 1ml each.  I was able to split each packet and get two uses out of each one. The Tony Moly Bio EX Active Cell Real Serum is a relatively fragrance free, clear, viscous gel of medium thickness. It is very spreadable and easily absorbed into the skin.

The first time I used the Tony Moly Bio EX Active Cell Real Serum I found it to be very moisturizing.  The texture was in between- not too light and not too heavy. My skin was very plump and moist looking afterwards, but that is where the good report ends.  By the third time I used the Tony Moly Bio EX Active Cell Real Serum my skin was incredibly oily.  This is odd because my skin is never oily.

By the 4th time I used the Tony Moly Bio EX Active Cell Real Serum my skin erupted into acne.  I had 2 extremely painful pimples that were rising underneath my skin and about 2 very hard whiteheads. Overall my skin was glowing and poreless, but I had these painful, hard pimples forming.  I stopped using the serum immediately. The very next day, another pimple and another whitehead formed.  I started applying Retin A over those places that very night.

I couldn’t find a full ingredient list for the Tony Moly Bio EX Active Cell Real Serum.  The only product info I could find simply stated that it had marine stem cells and bio water in it.  It is also listed as being 4 free in the Korean skincare “free” rating system. However, I do think it has alcohol in it.  Something had to make my skin produce so much oil and then break out.

This product is simply not worth it and I am so disappointed.  I have long since stopped using this serum and now I am dealing with excessively dry and peeling skin. My skin peeled like this once before and that was when I used an extremely drying skincare product that had alcohol and citrus in it which damaged and stripped my skin.

I am absolutely terrified of trying another Tony Moly product after these dramatically inconsistent results.
